Reading in Beijing

Buying English language books in Beijing used to be difficult and very expensive. Now, however, there are plenty of options for parents to buy books for their children (and themselves!). Here are some of my favorite places to go:

Beijing Star Kids Bookstore:
Singaropean Alex Goh runs this bookshop that now has two locations: Wangjing and Shunyi. They have affordable prices, good quality materials and an excellent customer service for schools. Star Kids did a Book fair during BISS's Book Week and were in charge of importing  Elissa Brent Weissman's books into China when she came to BISS.

The Bookworm:
Located in the heart of Sanlitun, The Bookworm is an old expat hang out. Great food, a lending library with books in many languages and fantastic events, including the Literary Festival. The have a small section of children's books there as well.

Chaterhouse:
Located in the basement of The Place, Chaterhouse offers a great selection of books including a fantastic selection of Children's books and some magazines.
